Diversity, Equity, and InclusionThe Association for Pathology Informatics is a professional society run by its members, for its members. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for our members that reflects the patients, hospitals, and communities that we serve. API strives to foster an environment of diversity, equity and inclusion that paves the way for current and future pathologists, informaticians, laboratorians and IT staff as well as trainees in the field of Pathology Informatics (and related fields) to succeed in their careers and goals to improve patient care, increase efficiency, and enhance the understanding of disease-related processes. The API Council will provide oversight of the association’s DEI activities. Some of the actions that API is committed to in the coming and future years are:
API continually strives for better representation of the talent and diversity of those engaged in pathology informatics to help the patients we ultimately serve. As part of these efforts, API will collect crucial demographic information from all our members who wish to provide that information. Participation with this collection helps API ensure a more inclusive representation within our membership and leadership to serve the needs of our growing community better. Meet Dr. Kareem Hosny, API's Ad-hoc DEI Chair. API’s Three Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) PrinciplesWe will continually strive to build and sustain a community and a leadership that embraces DEI.
We will continually endeavor to identify gaps in upholding priorities in DEI.
We will continually strengthen and improve upon carrying out our DEI mission.
